Lake Michigan Credit Union
After more than 25 years, banking is BACK in Boston Square. Lake Michigan Credit Union is building a brand-new, full-service branch right in the heart of the neighborhood, and when those doors open in 2028, Boston Square will finally have a bank that belongs to the community it serves.
Habitat for Humanity Townhomes
Twenty-two brand-new townhomes are being built in Boston Square for neighbors who are ready to own at Adams St. and Fuller Ave. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is transforming the former Adams School site into exactly what this community has been asking for: more homeownership, right here, with doors expected to open in 2028.
Community Investment Fund
The Boston Square Together Community Investment Fund is launching in 2027. Invest in the neighborhood you've always believed in and become an owner. Built from neighbor ideas and neighbor voices, this fund puts real ownership stakes in Boston Square into the hands of the people who live, work, and play here, starting with the retail spaces now opening at Kabo Flats on Kalamazoo Ave.
Food Hall
Boston Square is getting a food hall — and it's going to be delicious. 10,000 square feet of neighborhood flavor along Kalamazoo Avenue, featuring 6–8 food counters, each owned and operated by local vendors that reflect the rich, diverse cultures that call this community home. Opening TBD. Worth the wait.
Kabo Flats
Kabo Flats opened in the summer of 2026 and is already almost completely full — a clear sign that Boston Square was ready. The building features 57 mixed-income apartments, ground-floor retail spaces, and on-site amenities including a playground and community garden, bringing neighbors exactly what they asked for: more places to call home, right here.
HUB 07
HUB 07 opened in 2025 and is first and foremost a community center for Boston Square — a welcoming space where neighbors can access 13 organizations offering resources like healthcare and early childhood development. The building also features a warm lobby with café and rental space for private and community events, making it a true home base for the neighborhood.
New and Upcoming Retail Spaces
New retail spaces are now available along Kalamazoo Avenue on both sides of the street, and the priority is clear: neighbor-based businesses ready to grow in a historically vibrant business district. A few spaces are still available, if you're a small business looking to put down roots in Boston Square, now is the time.
Future mixed-income apartments
Above the future food hall along Kalamazoo Avenue, 45 mixed-income apartments are coming to Boston Square, a direct response to neighbors who said they wanted more rental opportunities right here in their community. Doors are expected to open in 2027.
